19 Year Old Labadieville Teen Dies in Crash

Cody P. Gaudet (W/M, 19 of Labadieville, LA) was operating a 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche, southbound on LA 1010 in Labadieville, LA. When Gaudet failed to negotiate a left bank curve, Gaudet’s vehicle began to rotate clockwise and ran off of the roadway of the southbound lane into the cane field. Gaudet’s vehicle flipped several times ejecting Gaudet from the vehicle.

Gaudet, who was not wearing a seatbelt, received fatal injuries. Gaudet was pronounced dead at the scene by the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office.

Alcohol use is suspected; however, speed appears to be a factor in the crash. Blood results are pending from the Assumption Parish Coroner’s Office. No charges were filed. Troopers are still continuing their investigation.

Louisiana state law requires everyone in a vehicle to wear seat belts. Statistics show that the safest place to be when a vehicle overturns is INSIDE the vehicle. The only way to ensure this is to be properly restrained inside the vehicle. Please remember to Buckle Up and don’t drive under the influence of Alcohol and / or Drugs.
